    Sharing the Gospel

Co-created Liturgy in Kindergarten and a Library visit with family.

What a special day in Kindergarten! This term, our youngest learners have been exploring the wonder of Creation in Religion. Bringing their knowledge to life, the students co-created a beautiful liturgy, a truly heartwarming celebration of their learning.

After the liturgy, we welcomed families into our Library for borrowing session. It was a wonderful opportunity for students, parents and family members to discover new books together.

A big congratulations to our Kinders for leading the way with such confidence and enthusiasm.

    GOD MOMENT

When Lola in Year 1 brought in her Lemonade Stand and lemonade to sell to help our Socktober effort! Legendary, Lola!

When Isla found money and handed it in to Mrs Hughes. Her honesty shows God’s love shining through her actions.

    Father's Day Liturgy

    FATHER'S DAY FUN

Today we held a lovely BBQ and Liturgy for our wonderful fathers and father figures in our students lives.

We started the morning off with a yummy bacon and egg burger along with some fun in the playground. We had handball comps, footballs flying through the air and lots and lots of hugs.

We finished the morning off with a beautiful liturgy held by Year 1 and Mrs Gale. The Year 1’s showed off their beautiful reading and singing to celebrate how much we love and adore our dads. Mrs Glasby has been working with the kids on creating their very own song for their dads which ended our liturgy.

Thank you so much to all our dads and father figures who showed up this morning. It was clear how much our students are loved and how much they appreciate all you do for them.

Thank you Mrs Gale and Mrs Glasby for the beautiful liturgy. Thank you to all the teachers who helped out with the BBQ and setting up the games for the morning.

Happy Father’s Day to you all!

~A Sandwich Making Fail in Kindergarten~

Kindergarten students had a blast putting their communication skills to the test as they guided Mrs Traise through the process of making a sandwich, step by step! In this fun and interactive lesson, the children quickly learned just how important it is to be clear and specific with their instructions. Through lots of laughter and a few unexpected sandwich-making surprises (if you look closely, you might be able to see Mrs Traise wearing Nutella), they discovered the power of verbs and nouns in recipe writing and how essential precise language is when giving directions.

Professional Learning Update: Preparing for the New Science and Technology Syllabus

On our recent pupil-free day, the teaching staff at St Joseph’s dedicated valuable time to professional learning focused on the upcoming implementation of the new NSW Science and Technology K–6 syllabus.

The new syllabus, which will be introduced in classrooms from 2026, places a strong emphasis on hands-on, inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to explore scientific and technological concepts through experimentation, critical thinking, and problem-solving. It also integrates digital technologies and engineering principles to better prepare students for the rapidly evolving world they live in.

Throughout the day, our teachers worked collaboratively to:

    • Unpack the structure and key changes in the new syllabus compared to the current one

    • Explore strategies to foster curiosity, creativity, and scientific thinking in young learners

    •  Review the integrated scope and sequence, ensuring that Science and Technology learning is meaningfully connected across other key learning areas throughout the year

    • Discuss ways to make Science and Technology more inclusive and accessible for all students

Our staff left the day feeling energised and inspired, with a shared commitment to making science and technology learning meaningful, relevant, and enjoyable for every student at St Joseph’s.

We look forward to keeping you informed as we begin to trial new units of work and integrate elements of the syllabus in preparation for full implementation next year. Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to grow as a learning community.

Author Visit - Kim Michelle Tofts

    A Wildly Creative Author visit!

Our school had an incredible time celebrating the start to our Book Week with a special visit from the talented author / illustrator, Kim Michelle Toft. She led a whole-school presentation filled with so much fun, we hardly noticed an hour had passed!

We dived into her multi-award-winning environmental books through drama, music, dance, and a lively Q&A session. We even got to meet some amazing characters, including Ollie the Octopus, a puppet who is a little bit naughty, and Marburg, a real crocodile from a taxidermist!

To cap off the visit, Kim showed us her unique silk painting technique, creating a stunning piece that captures the brilliant, shimmering colours of the underwater world. And guess what? Our school gets to keep the artwork!

It was a truly amazing and memorable experience that made our Book Week extra special. A big thank you to Kim for sharing her talent and passion with us!

(Keep an eye out for her books on sale in our assembly room)
